Acetylene Production Process

Acetylene generator generates acetylene gas using a reaction between calcium carbide and water. The reaction generates a lot of heat which must be moderated water to prevent explosions. Calcium carbide delivered into the generator from the top. The reaction is given below:

CAC2 + 2H2O → C2H2 + CA (OH)2

It is recommended that the reaction is carried out under controlled atmosphere.
