The PSA generators are fully automated ensuring that a single operator is able to control all of its function sitting in a control room. Latest systems are used for automating all the processes integrating them to a single point in the control room. Purity level of nitrogen will be automatically monitored and if it goes below the specifications the system will sound off an alarm. Installation is easy and requires less space being designed compact with an assembly on skid that comes prefabricated from the factory. It starts faster needing less than 5 minutes and begins to produce high purity nitrogen immediately. Zeolite molecular sieves used in the fabrication have long life-cycle over 15 years.
Pressure swing adsorption is one of the most efficient techniques for generating onsite nitrogen. PSA process works by separating nitrogen from oxygen which gets adsorbed in the carbon molecular sieve. The process comprises of two towers each equipped with a carbon molecular sieve(CMS). When the atmospheric air enters one tower, oxygen molecules being smaller than nitrogen will get stuck in the pores of CMS while nitrogen molecules being bigger will not go through the pores so they bypass the CMS and gets deposited as a product gas with desired purity. The towers will work alternately for separation and regeneration. Most of the nitrogen generated from the 1st tower is sent for storage with small part of nitrogen being run through the 2nd tower in the opposite direction from top to bottom. This is done to remove oxygen captured in the adsorption phase of the 2nd tower.
